Rapidweaver Health Check

I have 85 items to work on in RapidWeaver 7 health check. I'm trying to learn and work through all of these in my ongoing quest for the perfect website. Happy

Fiddling with MacOS Sierra Server

I've been messing with MacOS Server for hours and hours and hours trying to get Website hosting through No-IP Dynamic DNS service. I think I finally got it to work. http://kb5drj.ddns.net
So now if I don't ever touch the Mac again and sacrifice the cat then maybe it will keep working. Happy

GA-H61M-S2H v1.2 Hackintosh

I'm going to start this blog page which I'll update over time. I still have my old i3 intel based PC that I replaced with an 8 core PC about 3 years ago. The thing looked lonely just sitting there and it appears that I'm unwilling to sell or trash it. So even though I have an i7 quad core Mac that I use as my main machine, I'm going to set up the old PC as a hackintosh. It is the same PC that was my hackintosh machine years ago. A lot of things have changed in the last year or two and this old motherboard is workable.

Here's a list of components in the build:

  • Gigabyte GA-H61M-S2H v1.2 motherboard - series 6 with 'hybrid EFI' so you'll want to boot Clover in legacy mode. Here's Gigabyte's link: GA-H61M-S2H (rev. 1.2) | Motherboard - GIGABYTE
  • Intel Core i3-2105 cpu - at the time I picked this one because it has intel HD3000 onboard graphics
  • MSI NVIDIA GTX 650 Ti graphics board with 1023 MB ram - with the latest Clover boot loader, the onboard intel HD3000 graphics work fine with the intel drivers
  • 16 GB 1333 MHz (8x2) Corsair CMX16GX3M2A1333C9
  • Cougar PowerX PX700V2 700W power supply - it was on sale a long time ago and it still works after a bunch of years - knock on fake wood desk
  • TP-Link TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCIe Express Adapter - this card is seen by Clover boot loader as built in Airdrop supported WIFI - very useful for getting Messages to work. Very very good card for hackintosh. Plug and play.
  • Wintek? Marvell Yukon Gigabit PCIe 88E8053 card - it is plug and play.
  • Sony Optiarc AD-7280S DVD burner - I guess it works - who uses them anymore? Happy Shows that it has Generic Drive Support in System Information.
  • Apple HTS541010A9E662 1 TB 2.5" hard drive - this drive was what came in my Mac Mini - Apples obsession with putting the slowest possible drives in their computers - I didn't want to throw it away - it works fine in this build.
  • Seagate ST31000524AS 1 TB 3.5" drive - cheap and pretty fast - I need to get a SSD but its not an emergency.
  • Cooler Master HAF 912 Mid Tower Case - roomy and built like a tank - it will last forever

OK - that's it for internal stuff and there are no slots available to add anything. There is one free SATA port.

To be continued…. My fingers a tired. Happy

Garagesale 7

  • My brain must be failing. I was waiting until after the first of the month to upgrade from Garagesale 6 to 7. I just now discovered that I had already upgraded to 7 on Feb 27.

iView CyberPC Re-Image Day

  • Download the CyberPC Windows 10 Image and RAR extraction utility from here: firmwarecyberpc
  • Follow instructions here except format the USB flash drive as NTFS, not DOS32. ‎www.iviewus.com/download/instruction/Windows%20Tablet%20Installation.pdf
  • Plug in a USB network adapter. If you don't Windows Installer will get stuck on a blue 'Just a Moment' screen. This is because the installer is attempting to download updates without ever asking for the WIFI password.
  • Apparently the SD Card slot is not hot pluggable, either that or I hit the power button. Dunno. Happy
  • Just followed the update path and ended up with a stable Windows 10 Home 1607 build 14393.1066
  • When finished I highly recommend Macrium Reflect Free backup to make an image and bootable restore disk.
